Destinations International Foundation Announces Applications Open for the 2019 30 Under 30 and Ambassador Programs

Washington, D.C. (February 20, 2019) – Destinations International Foundation Chair and President and CEO of Visit KC, Jason Fulvi, and Destinations International President and CEO, Don Welsh, today announced a call for applications for the organization’s 2019 30 Under 30 program.

Now in its ninth year, the Destinations International Foundation’s 30 Under 30 program is supported by founding program partner SearchWide Global and sponsored by IMEX, Northstar Meetings Group and MMGY Global. The 30 individuals, 30 years of age and under, will first convene at Destinations International’s 2019 Annual Convention July 23-26, 2019 in St. Louis and will have the opportunity to engage in professional development and networking opportunities throughout 2019.

To be considered for the 30 Under 30 program, nominees must submit an application with CEO approval by Friday, March 22, 2019 at 5 PM ET. For more information and to apply, click here.

Program Benefits include:

  • Complimentary registration and three nights’ accommodations during Destinations International's 2019 Annual Convention in St. Louis, MO
  • Complimentary registration for Fundamentals in Destination Marketing, the first course of Destinations International's PDM program
  • Year-round professional development focus, including regular interactive webinars and an online community to share ideas
  • The opportunity to extend professional development by attending the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux's Annual Conference

Requirements/Criteria:

  • Candidates must be under 30 years of age at the time of the submission deadline (this means that candidates must have been born on or after March 23, 1989).
  • Must presently work for a destination organization, convention and visitors bureau (CVB) or tourism board that is currently a member of Destinations International.
  • Must be an employee of the organization for at least 1.5 years consecutively (internships included).
  • Submissions must include completed application, resume, short bio and video addressing questions asked within the application.
  • Video submission must be self-produced using a candidate’s own devices.
  • Nominees must submit applications, with approval and sign off from the CEO/Executive Director of the destination organization.
  • Only one individual from an organization will be chosen if multiple submissions from the same destination organization are submitted.

In addition to the 30 Under 30 Program, the Destinations International Foundation is offering two members of the 2018 30 Under 30 class the opportunity to participate in the 30 Under 30 Ambassador Program.

Prerequisites:

  • Must be a member of the 2018 30 Under 30 class
  • Must currently be working for a CVB maintaining an active membership with Destinations International

Requirements:

  • Attend Annual Convention 2019 on July 23-29 in St. Louis (complimentary registration and three nights hotel provided)
  • Attend all required 30 Under 30 events at the Annual Convention and assist with facilitating presentation content to the 2019 30 Under 30s
  • Be an ambassador for the program for the 30 Under 30 2019 class and beyond
  • Join the Professional Development Committee for 2019-2020. Ambassadors must attend one meeting in Washington D.C. in early 2020, as well as additional call-in meetings throughout the year. Travel expenses are the responsibility of the ambassador.
  • Help facilitate Legacy Project with the 2019 30 Under 30 Class (30 Under 30 Group decides together a project for the class to come up with that will better our industry.)
  • Assist in developing a long-term program to engage and retain 30 Under 30 alumni within the industry.

Additional Opportunities:

  • Opportunity to sit in one Destinations International Board Meeting as the 30 Under 30 Ambassadors for the 2019-2020 year.
  • Opportunity to submit a proposal to organize and facilitate a session during Annual Convention invite their class to join.
